Captains Prize weekend
Well done to Andy Shepherd holding his nerve for two days and finishing +3 as Captains Prize Winner 2014. Also to Stuart Wheeler for battling hard to take runner up and remaining level with the course. Although not in the running on Saturday, Phil G Matthews and Edward Andrews kept it going on the Sunday to take the Greensomes competition with 38 points. My thanks to all those that participated in the event and for making it a very memorable weekend.

Joint Captain's Challenge Cup team event saw Reg Pollard steer his team of Elaine Wakefield, Danny Parr and Colin Chandler to a 83 point total and win by 2 points from Kath Buckley, Steve Jones, Chris Lamb and Alan Baldwin.

The Soccer World Cup came to Chislehurst on Saturday night with a World Cup themed  Texas Scramble ahead of the England v Italy match. The big screen was set up on the terrace and Nigel Pearsons balcony was utilised for the projector for the 80+ audience of members and guests to cheer on the home team.  Unfortunately England lost 2-1 and  Captain Phil Matthews  team won by a shot, but apart from that a good night was had by all.

The Annual Brothers Open (National open event) was again played at Chislehurst on Thurs 12th & Fri 13th June with pairs from Scotland, Wales and even the Isle of Wight. On what turned out to be the hottest days of the year so far, local course knowledge helped Chislehurst based pairings result in three of the four finalists in the main and  plate events.
The Brothers overall winners were Chislehurst members Phil G & Dave Matthews who defeated former Crystal Palace and Millwall footballer Andy Roberts and his brother Dave in the final 2up.
With three of the four Chislehurst based players contesting the Plate final Robert & Stephen Finlay beat Mark & Terry Killick 5/4
Once again a very successful couple of days so any brothers out there keep a space free in your diary to enter next years event on 11th & 12 June 2015?

Congratulation to our new Captain's Phil Matthews, Mary Moger and Ed Holmans.

Captains Peter Skinner & Susie Matthews would like to thank all members for their generosity in raising the amazing total of £30.000 for their chosen charity  Chartwell Cancer Trust
Peter and Susie presented Michael Douglas, trustee of the Chartwell Cancer Trust, and the PRUH's Dr Anil Lakhani, with the cheque on Thursday 27 February. The money was the result of fundraising by the club and its members in 2013, including raffles, a charity golf day, dinners and an auction.

Mr Douglas said: "To date, this is the largest single donation the Trust has ever received. We are all most grateful for the support from the Captains and the efforts they have made throughout the year."
The Chartwell Cancer Trust was established 10 years ago by three former patients of the Chartwell Unit. The charity aims to supply funding in order to increase staffing levels in the unit.
Dr Lakhani said: "Increasing the number of staff on the unit gives our team more time to spend with patients, which greatly helps to improve the care we provide. We are very grateful for this extremely generous donation from Chislehurst Golf Club."
Special thanks go to Vince Lethbridge and Sue Tickner for their outstanding efforts in arranging all the years social events.
